Full Story – Exercise After Botox Myth:
For a clinical trial and dermatology practice, women aged 18 to 65 who have forehead and glabella wrinkles and are in good health were chosen. They were suggested to do either specific facial exercises or to avoid any facial movements for 4 hours after getting a Botox injection. Dermatologists assessed their wrinkles at different times using scales, and participants rated their own improvements.Â
22 women out of 25 completed the study; experts and participants noticed an improvement in wrinkles by day 3 in those women who exercised following the Botox injections. They also said that they experienced better results on day 2 or 3 with exercise as compared to no exercise and movement. The group with exercise gives noticeable results by day 3, with self-evaluation scores increasing twice as much. However, the overall effect was similar in both groups after 14 days, and the duration of improvement didn’t differ.
Most participants said that they found the facial exercise easy, and it helped to speed up the treatment process without affecting the duration of results. Hence, the study proves that post-injection exercises are a safe and effective way to see quicker results with botulinum toxin injections. Speeding up the time to notice the benefits, even by a day, could be important for some patients.Â
To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, facial exercise might be recommended for those who want faster results. Future studies could explore the best time for exercises involving men, as well as different treatments, areas, and exercises to find the minimum needed. However, more research is needed to determine exercise after the Botox myth, the optimal timing, and the types of exercises for different individuals.
But you should avoid strenuous workouts after Botox and extreme heat for at least 24 hours or as per your doctor’s recommendation because it improves blood circulation, puts a lot of pressure on the treated area, and causes Botox to move from the area in which it was injected. Don’t get a facial or head massage for at least 24-48 hours after toxin injection, and don’t lie down straight for at least 3 hours.
